NASCAR At Dover International Speedway: 2011 Start Time, Starting Lineup, TV/Radio Listings And More

It’s NASCAR race day at Dover International Speedway, and we’ve got the actual race start time, the starting lineup and some other facts about today’s Chase race for you below.

What time does the race start today? The command to start engines will be given by an official from race sponsor AAA at 2:08 p.m. Eastern time. The green flag will then wave at 2:16 p.m. Eastern. That’s an hour later than most of the Sunday races so far this season – so make sure you’re not sitting there an hour early for no reason. If you want to tune in for the actual race itself and skip the pre-race show, just tune in at 2:16.

Race name/distance: This week’s race name and distance is pretty self-explanatory. The AAA 400 is 400 laps around the 1-mile Dover track (nicknamed the “Monster Mile”) for a total distance of 400 miles.

TV and radio: Today’s race can be seen on ESPN. Every Cup race will be on either ESPN or ABC for the rest of the year. If you aren’t near a TV, the radio broadcast can be found on your local Motor Racing Network (MRN) affiliate. Click here to see a list of stations where you can listen.

National anthem: Any fans of The Office out there? If so, you’ll know Melora Hardin. She’s the woman who played Michael Scott’s boss, Jan. Apparently, she’s multi-talented and can also sing.

Tickets: Plenty of tickets remain for today’s Dover race. Don’t worry about the race being sold out if you want to make a last-minute trip to the track.

Weather: BRR! The unofficial NASCAR weatherman says fans at Dover should expect cold, windy conditions with a high in the upper 50s – accompanied by a chance of scattered showers. Hopefully, those showers will miss the track. But with NASCAR’s luck, you never know.

Last time: Jimmie Johnson won the Dover Chase race one year ago – and surprisingly has only won one time in the year since then. In May, Matt Kenseth won the Dover race thanks to a two-tire pit call that gave him track position.
