Dan Wheldon To Be Honored By NASCAR Teams At Talladega Superspeedway With ‘Lionheart’ Decal

NASCAR will honor the memory of two-time Indianapolis 500 winner Dan Wheldon this weekend at Talladega Superspeedway by placing a special “Lionheart” decal on the B-post of all Sprint Cup Series cars and Camping World trucks.

The decal features the “Lionheart Knight” logo Wheldon wore on the back of his racing helmets. NASCAR will also make a special helmet decal available to any driver who wants to wear one.

Wheldon was killed in the IndyCar Series season finale at Las Vegas last weekend. He will be remembered with a moment of silence before the Talladega races.

Check out the decal below.

The logo reflects Wheldon’s desire to drive the same way Richard the Lionheart fought in battle.

Wheldon’s death has touched the entire racing world – and beyond. A public memorial is scheduled to be held Sunday in Indianapolis. If you’re unable to attend the event, the Versus TV network will broadcast the memorial service live from 4-5 p.m. EDT on Sunday.
