Ever since Jeremy Mayfield was suspended for failing a NASCAR drug test in May 2009, the former driver has insisted NASCAR’s positive test for methamphetamine was inaccurate.
Report: Jeremy Mayfield Arrested For Meth Possession
Mayfield dragged NASCAR into court and blasted chairman Brian France in court documents, all while maintaining the drug test was wrong and NASCAR was making him a scapegoat.
But Mayfield’s questionable claims have gotten even weaker now following the news he was arrested Tuesday night for meth possession.
Charlotte television station WBTV reported Mayfield was arrested after authorities executed a search warrant at his home regarding stolen goods. The meth was found during the search, WBTV reported.
Mayfield has a court date this morning in North Carolina.
If there were lingering questions about Mayfield’s innocence, this likely answers many of them. The driver claimed NASCAR’s positive drug test as not for meth, but for a combination of his medications for allergies and attention deficit disorder.
Mayfield won five career Sprint Cup Series races and had three top-10 finishes in the season point standings.
