Jeremy Mayfield was arrested late Tuesday for possession of methamphetamine, but that’s apparently just one half of his legal problems.
Jeremy Mayfield Arrested For Drugs, Stolen Property
The Catawba County (N.C.) Sheriff’s Office found the drugs after executing a search warrant on his property after receiving a tip that he was in possession of stolen goods, according to WBTV. In addition to one and a half grams of meth, deputies found roughly $100,000 worth of stolen items from Lee Boy, Inc., a construction company, and Larry Grant, Inc., a trucking company. From WBTV.com:
Detectives say the items recovered for Lee Boy, Inc. included heavy equipment parts, scrap metal, welders and welding accessories and other heavy equipment items.
The items that belonged to Larry Grant, Inc. included various truck parts, an engraving machine, truck mirrors, electric motor controllers and items that were stored in his warehouse on South Grove Street.
At least 40 firearms were also confiscated, as you can see in the picture below from Alan Cavanna (@CopaCavanna) of WSOC-TV. As Cavanna noted, though, the guns were confiscated simply because a felony charge took place, and not because the police know yet if the guns are illegal or stolen.
Mayfield posted $4,000 bond and was scheduled to appear in court today.
