In an interview with Larry McReynolds last week, Danica Patrick reportedly said she didn’t know the state in which Bristol Motor Speedway was located.
Danica Patrick Unsure About Location Of Bristol, Gets Rewarded
So on Friday, Bristol Motor Speedway general manager Jerry Caldwell traveled from the mystery state to Daytona International Speedway, where he presented Patrick with a gift basket.
The gift basket was in the shape of the state of Tennessee, so Patrick likely discovered that Bristol – where she’s signed up to race in a few weeks, by the way – is located in the Volunteer State.
The basket included items such as:
– A bottle of black label Jack Daniels (from Lynchburg, Tenn.)
– Moon pies (from Chattanooga, Tenn.)
– Apple butter from Cracker Barrel (based in Lebanon, Tenn.)
– Tennessee barbecue sauce
– A Tennessee recipe cookbook
– A Bristol Motor Speedway T-shirt
– CDs from Elvis, Usher, Kenny Chesney and other Tennessee artists
– The movies “Days of Thunder” (with former Tennessee senator Fred Thompson) and “Pulp Fiction” (directed by Tennesee-born Quentin Tarantino
– Books about famous Tennessee figures
– A Tennessee Vols football pillow and a Tennesee Titans wristband
Hey, Bristol: I just forgot what state you’re in. Can I have some Jack Daniel’s, too?
As it turns out, ignorance apparently isn’t a bad thing when you’re famous. In fact, it can result in being showered with gifts!
Does she know where Pocono is? If not, she could be in line for a basket full of Hershey’s chocolate and Yuengling beer.
Is she aware that Darlington is in South Carolina? If not, let the hush puppies flow!
On a serious note, Patrick’s constant references to her lack of NASCAR knowledge makes it difficult to feel much sympathy for her struggles on the track.
If she doesn’t know anything about NASCAR and is constantly “learning” while on the job, how can she reasonably expect to succeed?
Actually, maybe that explains quite a lot about her performance so far.
