Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth was all set to reap the benefits of the Super Bowl being held in nearby Arlington.

Mother Nature had different plans, though. The racetrack is currently covered in two inches of ice, plus another three-to-four inches of fresh snow (see picture below the jump).
That means a busy three days of track activity – at which more than 300 people were expected to be entertained with corporate events and track rides – have been canceled.
Texas Motor Speedway says the poor weather will deny the speedway – used by both NASCAR and open-wheel series – what was expected to be a “six-figure windfall.”
“It has been an extremely disappointing week – for not only Texas Motor Speedway, but all the businesses big and small that were looking forward to enjoying the major economic impact that the Super Bowl brings to a region, especially the first time,” Texas Motor Speedway public relations rep Mike Zizzo said. “This also was going to be an opportunity for us to showcase our venue to some companies and guests that have never seen one of the premier motorsports facilities.”
