It still may not do much to soothe the pain of missing their teams play in the Super Bowl, but the 400 fans who were denied seats at Cowboys Stadium on Sunday night have gotten an interesting offer from Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
The NASCAR track says it will give free tickets to its March 4-6 race weekend to any fans who show proof of their Super Bowl displacement. In addition, four of those fans will have their names drawn to receive airfare plus a three-night hotel stay at the Stratosphere.
Super Bowl Fans Denied Dallas Seats Get Offer From NASCAR Track
“It’s a shame what happened to all of those fans who got to the Super Bowl and then had nowhere to sit,” LVMS president Chris Powell said. “I can assure them that the seats we are giving them are real, and they will have good seats to watch the Kobalt Tools 400 and Sam’s Town 300.”
Since the NFL has also decided to give those fans tickets to next year’s Super Bowl, the 400 displaced ticketholders are piling up quite a collection of offers. Of course, the Packers fans denied seats can’t ever replace the memory of seeing their team win in person.
Still, it would be cool to see a cluster of Green Bay jerseys at the Las Vegas race. The fans could cheer on Packers diehards Matt Kenseth or AJ Allmendinger, then open their arms for a Lambeau Leap if one of those drivers won.
Anyway, I’m pretty sure I’d accept the ticket offer even if I didn’t like NASCAR. After all, who would turn down a free trip to Vegas?
