Denny Hamlin’s all-star charity race just got a little bigger.
Report: Denny Hamlin Moving Charity Race To Richmond International Raceway
↵Hamlin will move his annual Late Model race to Richmond International Raceway on the Thursday night of NASCAR’s April race weekend, the Richmond Times-Dispatch reported today. The race had previously been at tiny Southside Speedway, but that track canceled its season.
↵The charity race, won last year when little-known C.E. Falk dumped leader Hamlin on the last lap, now has a chance for much greater exposure and a bigger crowd. Proceeds from the event benefit Hamlin’s charitable foundation.
↵Moving it to Richmond International Raceway also means it won’t go against another big event on Thursday night: Travis Pastrana’s second NASCAR start, this one coming in the K&N East Series race at Richmond.
↵The Times-Dispatch reported the K&N race would begin at 7 p.m., followed by Hamlin’s 75-lap charity event.
↵Tickets are $25 for the night, with children 12 and under admitted free, the paper said.
