This season’s Joyce Julius numbers are confirming what many fans already suspected: FOX has a love affair with Kyle Busch.
Kyle Busch Thumping NASCAR Competition In Mentions By FOX Broadcasters
Through nine races, the Joyce Julius marketing firm had tallied a whopping 1,727 mentions of Busch’s name on FOX’s Sprint Cup Series telecasts. That’s over 700 times more than the next drivers on the list – Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson –and more than twice as many times as NASCAR’s most popular driver, Dale Earnhardt Jr.
Busch has also been given the most interview time during the race telecasts. His nearly 18 minutes of interview time is 4.5 minutes more than runnerup Carl Edwards (though Edwards has actually been interviewed one more time than Busch).
These stats were tallied through the Richmond race – Darlington and Dover are not yet included. Here are the top 10 drivers in “mentions,” according to Joyce Julius:
- Kyle Busch: 1,727
- Jeff Gordon: 1,042
- Jimmie Johnson: 1,038
- Carl Edwards: 886
- Tony Stewart: 856
- Dale Earnhardt Jr.: 823
- Denny Hamlin: 770
- Clint Bowyer: 769
- Matt Kenseth: 761
- Kevin Harvick: 759
In other Joyce Julius news, the firm said Jimmie Johnson’s Lowe’s hood logo has pulled ahead of Juan Pablo Montoya’s Target logo in exposure time this season – barely. A tweet Monday morning said Lowe’s series-leading logo has been visible for one hour, 12 minutes and 56 seconds – two seconds more than the Target logo.
