Dale Earnhardt Jr. Expects To Sign Contract Extension With Hendrick Motorsports
ESPN.com quoted team owner Rick Hendrick as saying “We know we want to be together and we just want to get this over with.”
Earnhardt Jr., whose contract had been set to expire at the end of next season, said he and Hendrick have been talking on the phone recently to work toward the extension.
“I’m excited to be where I am,” Earnhardt Jr. said. “From my heart, it’s an amazing organization. There are some great, great people there. I’ve learned a lot being around there, and it’s made me a better person.”
Earnhardt Jr. said if he got “the opportunity to stick around,” he knows he has much more to accomplish with Hendrick.
“We’ve just been talking about it,” Earnhardt Jr. said. “Hopefully, I don’t think we’ll have any trouble working things out.”
Hendrick told ESPN.com he’s been working on a contract extension since last season.
