Danica Patrick is flirting with the idea of leaving IndyCar behind for good and coming to NASCAR full-time, ESPN.com reported on Tuesday.
Danica Patrick’s NASCAR Plans Could Include Sprint Cup Races Next Season, Report Says
Patrick has teased the media – and her IndyCar teams – in the past, using the threat of leaving open-wheel cars altogether to leverage a better contract.
But this time, she might be serious.
When asked if this year’s Indianapolis 500 would be her last, the Go Daddy girl told reporters in Indianapolis this week, “I suppose anything is possible, but I know for me I haven’t made any of those decisions yet.”
ESPN.com, though, cited sources as saying she was working on a deal to jump into the Nationwide Series full-time next season – with some Sprint Cup Series races toward the end of 2012.
She would then move to Cup full-time in 2012, ESPN.com claimed.
Patrick has struggled in her NASCAR career so far, but finished fourth in the Las Vegas Nationwide race this March. Other than that, though, she hasn’t cracked the top 10 in her 17 career NASCAR starts.
