Trevor Bayne says the range of emotions he’s been through this season would have been difficult to handle without his faith.
Trevor Bayne: Up-And-Down Season Would Be Difficult To Handle Without My Faith
Bayne, 20, has seemingly had a career’s worth of highs and lows – all in half of a NASCAR season.
He became a household name by winning the Daytona 500 in February, but then a mysterious illness – possibly triggered by an insect bite – sidelined him for weeks.
And when he returned to Daytona International Speedway for Saturday night’s Sprint Cup Series race, Bayne was the first car to wreck. It wasn’t exactly the result he hoped for.
“I can’t explain what I’ve been through this year,” he said after his crash. “It’s tough at times and it’s good at times, but I just know that I’ve got really good people behind me and that’s why I say that about Ford and everybody at the Wood Brothers and Roush Fenway on the Nationwide side.
“I’ve got great people behind me, so that gives me confidence. If I didn’t have that and I didn’t have my faith and everything else, right now that would be a pretty bad blow. I can promise you that.”
