Ten NASCAR Opinions We Think Everyone Can Agree On

Getty Images

It’s not easy to find common ground in the NASCAR world these days. Drivers, fans, industry officials and the media all have very different opinions and ideas about every aspect of the sport.

So as America comes together to celebrate its birthday today, we’re offering up 10 NASCAR-related opinions that everyone can agree on.

This was harder than it may sound, considering some people out there like to disagree just for the sake of being a contrarian. But we’re pretty sure that through these 10 opinions, we can all reach a consensus.

Check out our 10 NASCAR opinions below and see if you agree with all of them:

1. In general, racing under the lights seems to create a more exciting atmosphere than day races.

Comment: Night races enhance the “big game” feel. That’s an easy one to start the list.

2. When Carl Edwards becomes a NASCAR TV broadcaster someday, he’ll be one of the best in the business.

Comment: Have you seen this guy’s interviews? If so, we should be 2-for-2 so far.

3. Dale Earnhardt Jr. may be a popular driver to root for, but those in his legion of supporters are not bandwagon fans.

Comment: Junior fans are true diehards, sticking it out through thick and thin. And there’s been a lot of “thin” over the past three years.

4. The new Nationwide Series cars look way cooler than the current Sprint Cup Series cars.

Comment: If you’re not blind, you likely agree with this. Of course, if you ARE blind, you probably don’t have an opinion on this statement anyway. Nor are you reading this right now.

5. Jimmie Johnson’s five consecutive championships mark the most dominant five-year stretch in NASCAR history.

Comment: He won five straight titles during arguably the most competitive era ever and had 35 victories during that time. You’re not really going to argue with this one, are you?

6. Mark Martin is a sure-fire NASCAR Hall of Famer.

Comment: No, he doesn’t have a Sprint Cup Series championship. But he does have 40 Cup wins, 49 Nationwide wins and contributions to the garage that go far beyond any statistic.

7. The sheer size of NASCAR tracks – from Bristol to Daytona – collectively make them the most impressive venues in American sports.

Comment: Still with us? They may not have all the modern amenities some of the stick-and-ball stadiums and arenas do, but NASCAR tracks can be jaw-dropping in scale.

8. Like him or not, Kyle Busch is at least making an effort to present a better public image this year.

Comment: Take a deep breath. Get past your desire to hate Kyle Busch for a minute. Then accept we’re right.

9. The NASCAR viewing experience may be enhanced by a couple cold adult beverages.

Comment: You’ve gotta have something to do on the commercial breaks, right?

10. There’s absolutely no chance everyone who reads this will agree with all 10 of these opinions.

Comment: Some people wouldn’t even agree that the sky is blue. But that’s what we’re celebrating today – it’s a free country! Have a happy Fourth of July, everyone.
