NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Point Standings, Chase Scenarios Heading Into Atlanta

The Sprint Cup Series point standings haven’t changed since the Bristol race ended, NASCAR has revised the Chase clinching scenarios for a couple drivers.

Namely, NASCAR has concluded after further review that Kevin Harvick and Jeff Gordon have already qualified for the Chase heading into Atlanta. The late news comes because of the complicated wild card scenarios.

Harvick and Gordon were already going to be in the Chase anyway, but that means there are only six spots left with two races before the cutoff.

Here’s a look at the revised Chase scenarios for each driver (with the most realistic Chase possibility listed):

  1. Kyle Busch – *Clinched Chase spot
  2. Jimmie Johnson – *Clinched Chase spot
  3. Matt Kenseth – *Clinched Chase spot
  4. Carl Edwards – *Clinched Chase spot
  5. Kevin Harvick – *Clinched Chase spot
  6. Jeff Gordon – *Clinched Chase spot
  7. Ryan Newman – Needs to finish 20th or better to clinch Chase spot at Atlanta
  8. Kurt Busch – Needs to finish seventh or better to clinch Chase spot at Atlanta
  9. Dale Earnhardt Jr. +39 inside Chase...needs to pick up 10 points on 11th-place (Keselowski or Bowyer)
  10. Tony Stewart +21 inside Chase
  11. Brad Keselowski **Has No. 1 Wild Card spot (three wins)** ... -21 from top 10
  12. Clint Bowyer -22 from top 10 OR one win from wild card spot
  13. Denny Hamlin **Has No. 2 Wild Card spot (one win)** ... +41 points on Paul Menard
  14. AJ Allmendinger -1 win AND -8 points from wild card
  15. Kasey Kahne -1 win AND -16 points from wild card
  16. Greg Biffle -1 win AND -23 points from wild card
  17. Martin Truex Jr. -2 wins from wild card OR -1 win AND -27 points from wild card
  18. Joey Logano -2 wins OR -1 win AND -30 points from wild card
  19. Mark Martin -2 wins from wild card
  20. Paul Menard -1 win from wild card
  21. David Ragan -1 win AND -3 points from wild card
  22. Marcos Ambrose -2 wins AND 4 points from wild card
  23. Juan Pablo Montoya -2 wins AND -10 points from wild card
