Matt Kenseth told reporters earlier in the week he got a “sick feeling” in his gut watching his wife, Katie, wreck a bandolero practicing for a charity race at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
NASCAR At Dover: Matt Kenseth Says Wife Katie Is Sore But Doing Well After Wreck At Charlotte Motor Speedway
Despite blaming himself for allowing her to get in the car, Kenseth said Friday at Dover International Speedway his wife is “doing pretty well” as she recovers from a broken scapula and bruises sustained in the incident.
“She’s really sore, but getting a little bit better,” he said. “I’m trying to help as much as I can, but I think it’s hard for her to heal up with two kids and one arm and keep moving, so I think it will be awhile. But I think she was feeling pretty good yesterday. She’s probably a little bit more sore today.”
Katie Kenseth was scheduled to be among the NASCAR wives and girlfriends racing in the charity “Better Half Dash” scheduled for Oct. 15 at Charlotte Motor Speedway, prior to the Bank of America 500, but she will no longer participate. The event will benefit the Speedway Children’s Charity and Motor Racing Outreach.
