NASCAR Chase Drivers Electrify Media With Exciting Quotes At Dover (We’re Lying)

When it comes to gathering interesting NASCAR driver quotes to pass along, some days are better than others.

In that regard, Friday’s media sessions at Dover International Speedway were not very productive. The 12 Chase drivers – each of whom is required to meet with reporters weekly – have pretty much clammed up at this point in the season.

Our theory is the drivers (who were often controversial and outspoken during the regular season) are less eager to invite controversy or distractions into their lives, lest they lose focus on their Chase objectives.

Don’t believe us? Check out our top five blandest quotes of the day:

5. Kevin Harvick on Dover: “You don’t do anything different than you would any other week. Just another race track that you try to do the same things that you do every week.”

4. Brad Keselowski on whether drivers are racing him harder two races into the Chase: “I really don’t see any difference. Everybody is racing hard, and that’s good. It’s good for the sport.”

3. Kyle Busch on his strategy at Dover: “Our strategy is just to continue doing what we’ve been trying to do and collect some good finishes here. Just be able to let the points fall as they may by being able to run as strong as we can.”

2. Tony Stewart on juggling multiple roles as owner of Chase teams and leading points: “Same thing we’ve been doing for three years now. This isn’t a new topic. We’ve been doing this for our third year now. We’re not doing anything different.”

1. Kurt Busch on next week’s race at Kansas: “It’s a tough track, but a fun racetrack. Kansas is a good atmosphere for a mile-and-a-half for everybody.”
