Rain will not be a problem this year for Indianapolis 500 qualifying, but temperatures will be well above average. Average high in Indianapolis this time of year is around 73, but highs for Saturday and Sunday at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway will be nearly 15 degrees above that, reaching the upper 80s.
2012 Indy 500 Qualifying Weather Forecast: Very Warm Weekend
Saturday will be mostly sunny with qualifying temperatures ranging from 80 degrees at noon to 86 by the time happy hour rolls around at 5 p.m. EDT. The wind should not cause a problem for drivers, as it comes out of the southeast at 5-10 mph.
Few more clouds are possible Sunday, making the sky partly sunny. Temperatures could be even warmer as the afternoon high Sunday reaches 87 degrees. The record high for Indianapolis both Saturday and Sunday is 90. With winds once again out of the south-southeast at 5-10 mph.
