Indy 500 Qualifying Results 2012, Pole Day: Ryan Briscoe Wins Pole Position

Ryan Briscoe won pole position during Saturday’s qualifying for the 2012 Indianapolis 500. He turned in a four-lap average of 226.484 miles per hour to edge out the likes of James Hinchcliffe, Marco Andretti and three-time Indy 500 winner Helio Castroneves.

Briscoe just edged out Hinchcliffe, who took second at 226.481 MPH. Briscoe ran his winning run early in the day, and was forced to wait out the results in his car as driver after driver tried but failed to top him.

Here is the top of the pole with each driver’s average speed after four laps.
