Kasey Kahne’s haircut creates buzz

Kasey Kahne’s new haircut was the talk of Day 3 of the NASCAR Media Tour.

USA TODAY Sports

You know it’s slow news day when the biggest story on Day 3 of the NASCAR Sprint Media Tour was the haircut Kasey Kahne debuted Wednesday.

Well, maybe it wasn’t the biggest story, but Kahne’s new ‘do certainly generated some buzz when the NASCAR media contingent made a stop at Hendrick Motorsports.

“It’s an interesting one,” said Jimmie Johnson, Kahne’s teammate.

The haircut is apparently called “high and tight” and looks like something straight out of the early 90s.

Kahne said he was inspired after watching a Los Angeles Lakers game during the holidays and seeing star point guard Steve Nash sport a similar look.

“I liked his haircut,” Kahne said.

Not everyone was enamored with the haircut, however, including Rick Hendrick, who offered his driver $20 to “go finish your haircut.”

“I thought he had a hairpiece on,” Hendrick said jokingly. “He looked like an old guy with a real bad rug.”
