Barreling towards the checkered flag, Greg Biffle was running second in the Sprint Unlimited and closing rapidly on leader Kevin Harvick - seemingly destined to win the first NASCAR race of the season.

Greg Biffle appeared to be on his way to victory in the Sprint Unlimited. However, a bold move by Kevin Harvick stunted Biffle’s momentum and instead he finished second.

But just as quickly, Harvick slid up the track and blocked Biffle’s charge and in the process cutting off his momentum and pulling away for the victory.
Biffle settled for second.
Surprisingly, afterward, Biffle wasn’t angry about Harvick’s bold tactic and had no issue with how Harvick raced him on the final lap.
“I thought about sticking it in there and it just didn’t look like it was going to work to me,” Biffle said Saturday at Daytona International Speedway. “It looked like it would be sparks and parts flying. He shut the door on the top. That is what Kevin needed to do to win the race.”
At one point the Roush Fenway Racing driver was pretty certain he and Harvick were going to make contact on that final lap, calling it “borderline” whether the two were going to crash.
“He was going to go up against the fence,” Biffle said. “I have been there a hundred times. There is no way that move was going to work.”
In the battle of risk vs. reward, Biffle chose to be cautious and try and regroup. However, without a drafting partner there was no way he was going to be able to pass Harvick by himself.
“I looked in the mirror and didn’t have anyone pushing me,” he said. “I figured someone might give me a shove and I could try something else. ...I was still against his bumper and was going to try to go to the bottom but there was nobody behind me at that point. These cars get separated pretty quick.”
