Daytona 500 start time 2013: Danica Patrick to lead field to green flag at 1 p.m.

Danica Patrick is the first woman to earn a pole in a Sprint Cup Series race, let alone the Daytona 500.

John David Mercer-USA TODAY Sports

The biggest and most important race on the NASCAR schedule will kick off the 2013 season on Sunday with a start time scheduled for 1 p.m. ET. Television coverage of the event is scheduled to begin on FOX at 12 p.m. with driver introductions set to begin at 12:40 p.m.

For the first time in Sprint Cup history, let alone Daytona 500 history, a woman will lead the field to the green flag after Danica Patrick earned the pole for the race. However, that far from makes her the favorite to win the event, as Dale Jarrett in 2000 was last driver to win from the pole at the Daytona 500.

Instead it’s Kevin Harvick with 9/1 odds to win the race from Bovada, making him the favorite to win the race for the first time since he did so in 2007. Patrick received 18/1 odds to win, while 11 drivers enter with better odds.
