NASCAR Las Vegas 2013: Lineup, starting grid for Kobalt Tools 400

2012 Sprint Cup champ Brad Keselowski takes the poll after qualifying was canceled due to rain.

USA TODAY Sports

Brad Keselowski will take the pole position Sunday at the NASCAR Kobalt Tools 400 Sprint Cup race at Las Vegas. A Friday rainout cancelled qualifying, so NASCAR put the cars into the grid on the basis of 2012 points, and Keselowski, the 2012 Cup champion, took the top spot. He finished 32nd in last year’s Vegas race.

Keselowski is joined on the front row Sunday by Clint Bowyer, who finished sixth at last year’s race. Jimmie Johnson, who won the season opener at Daytona and finished second last week in Phoenix, begins Sunday’s race in third. Last year’s Vegas champ, Kasey Kahne, will start alongside Johnson in fourth position. Greg Biffle and Denny Hamlin are in Row 3, with Ricky Stenhouse Jr. and Kevin Harvick in Row 4. Tony Stewart and Jeff Gordon round out the first ten cars.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. starts in 12th position Sunday. Sprint Cup rookie Danica Patrick begins the day in 37th place.
