2013 NASCAR standings: Dale Earnhardt Jr. in 1st place

A string of top-ten finishes has Earnhardt Jr. on top of the Sprint Cup standings.

USA TODAY Sports

Dale Earnhardt Jr. leads the 2013 NASCAR Sprint Cup standings, though he has yet to win a race this season. It’s consistency that’s earned him the points lead -- he finished in the top ten in each of the first five races of the season, including three top-five finishes. Only Brad Keselowski, who is second in the standings, has more top-five finishes.

Jimmie Johnson, Carl Edwards and Greg Biffle round out the top five. Johnson and Edwards both have wins this year, as do Kyle Busch, Kasey Kahne and Matt Kenseth. Kenseth is the only one of those five currently outside the top ten in the point standings.

Here’s a look at the top ten:

1. Dale Earnhardt Jr. (199 points)
2. Brad Keselowski (187)
3. Jimmie Johnson (183)
T4. Carl Edwards (164)
T4. Greg Biffle (164)
6. Kyle Busch (163)
7. Kasey Kahne (159)
8. Paul Menard (154)
9. Joey Logano (146)
10. Denny Hamlin (145)

The Sprint Cup Series resumes with the STP Gas Booster 500 at Martinsville Speedway on April 7.
