At the drop of the green flag at the Coca-Cola 600, Denny Hamlin will lead the field at Charlotte Motor Speedway as he continues his rise up the points table. After a back injury cost Hamlin four races earlier in the season, he dropped deep in the standings, but after a second-place finish at Darlington, he’s climbing back into contention for a Chase for the Cup spot.

Hamlin earned his second pole of the season, breaking the speed record at the track with an average of 195.624 miles per hour, which was enough to edge Kurt Busch for the top spot.
