NASCAR at Pocono Speedway 2013: Lineup, starting grid for Party in the Poconos 400

Points leader Jimmie Johnson will start on the pole in Sunday’s Party in the Poconos 400. Here’s a look at the complete lineup and starting grid in advance of the green flag.

The 2013 Sprint Cup Series schedule continues on Sunday with the Party in the Poconos 400. After rain washed out qualifying earlier in the week, Sunday should be dry enough to get the race in, according to Brian Neudorff’s forecast.

With rain from Tropical Storm Andrea washing out qualifying, Sunday’s starting lineup is based on the current owner points, meaning points leader Jimmie Johnson is on the pole. Johnson will start on the front line with Carl Edwards, Clint Boyer and Matt Kenseth rounding out the first four drivers. Johnson, who won the 2004 race, finished fourth in in the event last season.

Joey Logano won the race last year, but if he is going to defend his title on the 2.5-mile tri-oval track, he’ll have some ground to make up. Logano will start the race from the 21st starting spot. Coming off a back injury, Denny Hamlin said he thinks he will need to win multiple races down the stretch to qualify for the Chase for the Cup. The Pocono Raceway may be a good place to start as he’s had plenty of success at this track during his career, including wins in 2006 and 2010. Hamlin will start 17th on Sunday.
