When Dick Trickle won the inaugural World Crown 300 in 1983, it began a tradition that has now lasted for 30 years. The race has continued to fit within the standards he established as the 2013 race is expected to reward ambition, determination and grit -- attributes he championed throughout his entire career.

A list of the likely contenders for the World Crown 300 and what they’ve accomplished thus far.

Considered one of the Grand Slam of Super Late Model racing events, the World Crown has been chased and captured by some of stock car racing’s best champions.
The other so-called Grand Slam events include the Winchester 400, All-American 400 and the Snowball Derby.
Past winners include Darrell Waltrip, Rick Crawford, and Rich Bickle. The entry list from over the years reveals even more legends, including Rusty Wallace, Alan Kulwicki, Bobby and Davey Allison -- it’s that kind of race.
The legend is sure to grow on Saturday night as the World Crown is now sanctioned by the Southern Super Series and including some of its top stars like Bubba Pollard, Daniel Hemric, John Hunter Nemechek and Mike Garvey. Defending race winner Chase Elliott will also headline an a-list of stock car prospects like ARCA Racing Series driver Kyle Benjamin and Stephen Nasse.
Beyond that, most every driver in the field has a compelling story and a snapshot can be seen below. The World Crown 300 will not have radio this season so updates will be provided by Speed 51 as well as exclusive commentary from yours truly on Twitter at @MattWeaverSBN.
The race is set to begin at 7 p.m. ET. A list of the race procedures has been posted and the race will include NASCAR-style live pit stops.
