Fastest qualifier, Friday night feature winner, Dash winner, Saturday night Gambler’s Classic winner. All are impressive accomplishments individually when it comes to the stellar field of competitors that show up each year at Boardwalk Hall, but it is unheard of to achieve all of those titles in one weekend. Until now.
Sesely wraps up perfect weekend in Atlantic City, wins Gambler’s Classic
Anthony Sesely has established himself as the driver to beat in indoor TQ Midget racing, leading the 40 lap Gambler’s Classic feature flag-to-flag for the second straight year.

Mattawan, New Jersey’s Anthony Sesely, the 2013 flag-to-flag winner, turned in a repeat performance en route to a perfect weekend in 2014’s running of the NAPA Know How Atlantic City Indoor Races. In fact the only time Sesely was on the track and did not lead was when he lost his Friday match race to Ted Christopher and the first few laps in Friday night’s A-Main before he passed, once again, Ted Christopher.
Christopher’s weekend turned into a nightmare quickly and continued that way on Saturday night. Problems in his heat race led to him taking a provisional and starting in the back row for the 40 lap main event. Only two laps in Christopher went for yet another wild ride, flipping and coming to a rest in turn three. Christopher was okay, but it was the exact opposite of the weekend any competitor would hope for at any race track.
During green flag competition, countless drivers made bids to keep up with Sesely. Rob Vivona, Matt Janisch, Mike Iles, and Lou Cicconi have comprised for many years of experience and wins in TQ Midgets and other styles of race cars. All could not successfully make the pass for the lead. During the last long green flag run Sesely had Lichty and Cicconi right on his tail, but Sesely approached and passed lapped traffic flawlessly to the checkered flag.
One might think that with a race like that, Sesely’s car was handling perfectly. In victory lane, he said that was far from the truth.
“Honestly, the car wasn’t very good,” remarked Sesely. “We were fighting tooth and nail.”
Simon Egan won the Slingshot feature for the second time in his Atlantic City Indoor Race career, and Long Islander Anthony Colandro held off Late Model Stock Car veteran Jonathan Cash from Virginia and Pro All Stars Series regular D.J. Shaw for the champ Kart win.
Many of the drivers will return to racing indoors in two weeks for the first annual Battle Of Trenton at the Sun National Bank Center in New Jersey.
