NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla. -- 2014 is on its way to potentially having one of the best Super Late Model points battles in many years of the World Series of Asphalt at New Smyrna Speedway. Friday night’s runner up Steve Wallace fought off challenges from Night 1 winner Stephen Nasse in the 35 lap race, the second of seven in nine nights.
Steve Wallace Returns to Winners Circle on World Series Night 2
Steve Wallace held off many of Night 1’s top runners to claim his first victory since 2011, moving him into a tie for the championship lead with Stephen Nasse.

The feature started with a multi-car wreck on the first lap involving drivers such as Spencer Davis and Cody Coughlin. On the full restart Wallace, who started from the top spot after a four car invert, jumped ahead of Ross Kenseth. Meanwhile, Kyle Benjamin and Stephen Nasse started making their way toward the front two.
A caution flew with less than ten to go and Wallace chose the outside lane, leaving the inside for now second place Nasse. Nasse held the lead before another caution, involving Friday night top five finisher Cameron Hayley, bunched the field up again.
On the ensuing restart, Wallace gained the advantage and held him off the remainder of the way. Nasse, Kenseth, Matt Tifft, and rounded out the top five at the finish
Wallace and Nasse now share the lead in the championship standings, but will have to wait until Monday night to face off again as the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East takes center stage on Sunday evening.
