NASCAR Phoenix 2014: Start time, TV schedule for The Profit on CNBC 500

Brad Keselowski will try to finish the job from the pole on Sunday.

Robert Laberge

Brad Keselowski was visibly frustrated after the Daytona 500, and you could hardly blame him.

The Team Penske driver led a furious charge to the front of the pack in the dying laps of NASCAR’s season opener, only to watch Dale Earnhardt Jr. speed ahead for the win after getting a great push from Jeff Gordon on the final restart. Keselowski came very close to a win but instead finished third.

Keselowski turned that frustration into motivation this week, and he will start from the pole in the The Profit on CNBC 500 at Phoenix International Speedway on Sunday. The driver of the No. 2 car is probably the favorite to win the race after a strong week in the desert, but a faster car will be waiting in the middle of the pack when the green flag waves.

Kevin Harvick has dominated practices at Phoenix, running the fastest laps in each of the final two practice sessions this week. Meanwhile, Keselowski hasn’t placed higher than fifth and fell all the way to 20th in the final practice on Saturday.

So when the green flag waves on Sunday, don’t be surprised if Harvick quickly makes his way to the front. Other cars to watch include Gordon and rookie Kyle Larson, who has another fast car and is looking to put a 38th-place finish at Daytona behind him.
