NASCAR Talladega 2015: Lineup, starting grid for CampingWorld.com 500

Gordon also won this race in 1996 and 2007.

Jeff Gordon is in search of his first win of 2015, and will start in pole position on Sunday afternoon at the CampingWorld.com 500 from Talladega Superspeedway in Alabama, an elimination race in the NASCAR Chase for the Sprint Cup playoffs.

Gordon captured the pole with a 194.500 mph qualifying speed on Saturday, his fourth pole position of the season. He has three top-five finishes on the season, and enters Sunday tied for fifth place among the 12 drivers vying for the Chase for the Sprint Cup.

Sunday marks the end of the three-week Contender Round of the NASCAR playoffs -- the second of three rounds leading up to the championship race -- with the bottom four of 12 drivers in points eliminated after Talladega.

Gordon, who won this race in 1996 and 2007, enters Sunday tied for fifth in points with Kevin Harvick, starting in seventh position on Sunday, and Brad Keselowski starting 11th. Keselowski won the CampingWorld.com 500 in 2014.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Matt Kenseth start Sunday ranked 11th and 12th, respectively, in points, both needing to win at Talladega to avoid elimination. They start fifth and fourth, respectively, on Sunday.

Among the 12 Chase drivers, Martin Truex Jr. will be in the worst position, starting 43rd and last, penalized for driving under a double yellow line during qualifying. Truex begins Sunday eighth place in points, just one behind the trio of Gordon, Harvick and Keselowski.

Joey Logano is the only driver to automatically qualify for the third round after victories each of the past two weeks.

Jeb Burton and Michael Annett failed to qualify.

NBCSN will provide pre-race coverage at 2 p.m. ET, with race coverage beginning at 2:30 p.m. and the green flag at approximately 2:49 p.m. Rick Allen will call the race alongside analysts Steve Letarte and Jeff Burton, with pit reporters Dave Burns, Rutledge Wood, Mike Massaro, Marty Snider and Kelli Stavast.
