NASCAR Sprint Showdown 2015 lineup: Starting grid set for Friday’s race

The two winners of the Sprint Showdown will advance to Saturday’s All-Star race.

Sam Sharpe-USA TODAY Sports

The 2015 NASCAR Sprint Showdown is set for Friday to determine two entrants into the NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race at Charlotte Motor Speedway on Saturday. The Sprint Showdown includes one round of practice, two rounds of qualifying and then two 20-lap race segments. The winner of each segment will advance to compete Saturday in the All-Star Race.

After the conclusion of the first 20 laps, the winner of that segment will be done racing for the day. At that point, there will be a yellow flag during which teams can make the kinds of adjustments they’re typically allowed to make while pitting, including tire changes and adding fuel. However, cars that choose to pit will not retain their position on the track.

Along with the two winners, a third participant for the All-Star race will be decided in the Sprint Fan Vote. The three drivers will advance to the All-Star Race on Saturday, joining the others who have already qualified in one of three ways: by winning a race this year or last year, winning the Sprint Cup in the past or earning a previous win in the All-Star Race.

The race is set to begin at about 7:15 p.m. ET on Fox Sports 1. The full starting grid is below:
