NASCAR Richmond 2015: Lineup, starting grid for Federated Auto Parts 400

The Chase for the Sprint Cup is one week away, with one final race to determine the final order and participants in the 2015 NASCAR playoffs. The Federated Auto Parts 400 gets underway on Saturday night from Richmond Motor Speedway with several drivers jockeying for position.

Joey Logano took the pole position on Friday with a qualifying speed of 126.470 mph. With three victories on the season, he ranks second in points. Points leader Kevin Harvick starts in sixth position on Saturday night, looking for his third win in this event; Harvick won at Richmond in 2006 and 2011.

Jeff Gordon has yet to win a race in his final season, but he doesn’t need to win Saturday night in Richmond in order to secure a playoff spot. He just needs to finish 17th or better to ensure a spot in The Chase.

“What I will tell you is that throughout my career every time I went into a race and someone said that I have to finish 17th or better we usually hovered around 18th all night,” Gordon told reporters. “So we are trying to do everything we can think of to be top-five or top-10.”

Gordon, a 2000 winner at Richmond, starts at 23rd on Saturday night.

NBCSN will provide pre-race coverage at 7 p.m. ET, with race coverage beginning at 7:30 p.m. and the green flag at 7:44 p.m. Rick Allen will call the race alongside analysts Jeff Burton and Steve Letarte, with pit reporters Kelli Stavast, Marty Snider, Mike Massaro and Dave Burns.
