NASCAR New Hampshire 2015: Lineup, starting grid for Sylvania 300

Jasen Vinlove-USA TODAY Sports

Carl Edwards got his Chase for the Sprint Cup off to a solid start with a second-place finish at Chicagoland last week, and he starts off the second week of the NASCAR playoffs with the pole position at the Sylvania 300 in Loudon, N.H.

The Sylvania 300 is the second of three races in the Challenger Round, after which the 16-driver field competing for the NASCAR Sprint Cup title will be whittled down to 12.

Edwards won the pole on Friday, and with another strong finish will be in good shape moving forward. Kevin Harvick, who starts in second position on Sunday, is in a different spot. Harvick finished 42nd after a wreck in Illinois, and needs a strong showing in both New Hampshire on Sunday and at Dover next week. Harvick won at New Hampshire in 2006.

Jeff Gordon, celebrated this week as NASCAR’s “Iron Man” with his 789th consecutive start, will start 10th on Sunday. He finished 14th last week at Chicagoland. Gordon has won three times at New Hampshire, but those victories came in 1995, ‘97, and ‘98.

Joey Logano, who won the Sylvania 300 in 2014, starts in eighth position on Sunday.

Of the 16 drivers alive for The Chase, Clint Bowyer has the worst starting position on Sunday, starting in 26th position.

NBCSN will provide pre-race coverage at 1:30 p.m. ET, with race coverage beginning at 2 p.m. and the green flag at approximately 2:15 p.m. Rick Allen will call the race alongside analysts Jeff Burton and Steve Letarte, with pit reporters Marty Snider, Mike Massaro, Kelli Stavast and Dave Burns.
