Kevin Harvick looks for both his first win of the 2017 NASCAR Monster Energy Cup season, and his first win at the O’Reilly Auto Parts 500 on Sunday afternoon from Texas Motor Speedway.

Harvick starts out on the pole, thanks to a qualifying speed of 198.405 mph on Friday. The veteran driver enters Sunday 10th in points this season despite only two top-10 finishes on the year — sixth place in Phoenix, and ninth in Atlanta.

Points leader Kyle Larson — with a win and three second-place finishes in six races in 2017 — was one of nine drivers who failed to pass a technical inspection before Friday’s qualifying and will start Sunday near the back of the pack, in 32nd place.

“I don’t know exactly what happened, we just didn’t make it through tech,” Larson said Friday. “This is not the place you want to not make it through tech. It will be really hard to pass.”

Joey Logano, like Harvick, is looking for his first win of the season, and will start in fourth position on Sunday. Logano has finished sixth, sixth, fourth, fifth, and fourth in six races this season. He won the O’Reilly Auto Parts 500 in 2014.

Fox will televise the race from Texas beginning at 1:30 p.m. ET, with Mike Joy calling play-by-play along with analysts Jeff Gordon, Larry McReynolds, and Darrell Waltrip. Online streaming is provided through Fox Sports Go.
