2011 NBA Draft Results: Marcus Morris Selected By Houston Rockets With No. 14 Pick

With the No. 14 pick in the 2011 NBA Draft, the Houston Rockets selected Kansas big man Marcus Morris, who went one pick after his twin brother, Markieff.

Three years at Kansas under Bill Self saw Morris dedicated to more of a post-up, back to the basket role than the forward is expected to play at the NBA level. After playing power forward almost exclusively in the Big 12, Morris has billed himself a small forward in the mold of Carmelo Anthony. He's definitely a legit scorer, and gaudy point totals could make him a Rookie of the Year contender. But (as usual) it's all in how he's used and in what ways he develops. Because he wants to play the wing, don't think that means he avoids contact: he may be the toughest player in the draft, aside from perhaps his twin brother Markieff. It's not a generalization to say that most players who come up from Philadelphia (as Morris did) are tough, because it's true. Morris should continue that legacy in the NBA.
