2011 NBA Draft Results: Lakers Select D-League Player Nicknamed ‘Chu Chu’, Second Round Quickly Wraps Up

The 2011 NBA Draft finished on a high note with very interesting players going late in the second round.

The Los Angeles Lakers selected D-League prospect Chukwudiebere "Chu Chu" Maduabum with the No. 56 pick, drawing guffaws from ESPN's panel. "Tough to crack the Bakersfield Jam rotation," Jay Bilas quipped with erudite snark.

At No. 57, on behalf of the Minnesota Timberwolves, the Dallas Mavericks took possible mirage Congolese forward Tanguy Ngombo. His name might be Targuy. ESPN used a head shot found on Google Images and a highlight reel from YouTube. Fran Fraschilla actually mentioned Sid Finch.

The Lakers took another mystery, former UConn big man Ater Majok of the Sudan, at No. 58. The telecast showed a completely bored or confused Lakers fan wearing a Duke ballcap. He was hoping Kyle Singler would slip.

The San Antonio Spurs took Hungarian prospect Adam Hanga at No. 59. Fraschilla was pleased with this selection.

With the final pick in the 2011 NBA Draft, the Sacramento Kings took Washington point guard Isaiah Thomas, leaving Fraschilla longing for the days of the No. 59 pick.
