Rockets-Kings Trade Currently Off The Table, According To Report

The Houston Rockets have certainly been the busiest team in the run-up to the 2012 NBA draft. Rockets General Manager Daryl Morey has burned up the phone lines and now holds three first-round picks, at Nos. 12, 16 and 18. Morey was reportedly trying to use those assets to move up in the draft, potentially in a deal with the Kings for the No. 5 pick.

But reports now indicate that the Kings plan to stay at No. 5 and have cooled on a deal with the Rockets. Via Sam Amick of Sports Illustrated:

With the obligatory “things can change” caveat attached, I’m told that the Kings are likely to keep their pick despite Houston’s well-chronicled attempts to acquire it. Reports of the Rockets’ push to get No. 5 continued on Thursday, but a source with knowledge of the situation said “no deal” when prompted in the afternoon.

The Kings are currently projected to pick Damian Lillard with the No. 5 pick in SB Nation’s Mock Draft.
