Andrew Bogut Says He Won’t Be 100 Percent Healthy All Season

For hardcore NBA fans, one of the coolest developments of the 2009-10 NBA season was Andrew Bogut's emergence into the prototypical modern NBA center. Bogut was the rare player that combined traditional back-to-the-basket post scoring, pick and roll mobility, elite shot-blocking and outstanding positional defense into one well-rounded package in leading the Bucks to a surprising season. It was almost tragic for a lot of us hardcore fans that he went down with this gruesome injury late in the year.

↵That’s why this news from Tom Enlund of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel is not particularly encouraging. Here’s what Bogut had to say about his injury recovery.

↵

↵↵

↵↵“The elbow, finger, everything . . . I won’t be 100%, so I’ll have to play through the pain through the season. Even once it gets better, I’m still going to be 90% for the year or 85%.

↵“I don’t have my mobility and flexibility like I should, but I just have to adjust to it.”

↵↵Seeing as Bogut’s mobility and flexibility were huge keys to his breakout season last year, it’s very possible he’s going to struggle all season, which in turn means his team will struggle all season. If both of those things happen, us NBA fans won’t get the chance to see of the league’s most underappreciated players and one of the league’s most underappreciated teams get the respect they deserve. That’s pretty depressing to think about, even if you’re not a Bucks fan.
