Allen Iverson Is Taking His Talents To Istanbul

No NBA teams are currently interested in Allen Iverson's services. That's fine by him. Because there are plenty of quality teams in Turkey that would be interested.

“We are in very serious negotiations with [Besiktas],” Iverson’s business manager Gary Moore told Yahoo! Sports. “Istanbul is beautiful from everything we’ve learned. It’s not that far from the U.S., and the competition is good which makes it all attractive.

I double checked and Turkey is, in fact, “that” far from the U.S. I hope someone hasn’t convinced Moore and Iverson that Istanbul is inCanada. The good news is that the team is willing to pay Iverson as much as $2 million with bonuses, which should cover any travel costs.

The only thing still to be worked out is the language in Iverson’s contract over how much the team can fine him, which begs the question “Why is Allen Iverson so sure he’s going to be fined by the team while there?” Also, there’s the whole issue of Besiktas being solvent enough to pay Iverson. The team is currently embroiled in a suit with a former player who claims to have not received his salary.
