In typical NBA fashion, the biggest story of the preseason hasn’t been about a team coming together (Heat Index aside) or a team falling apart. Instead, it’s been about something artificial, something resembling a new league policy failing miserably.

Yup, once again, NBA officials have become the story. The NBA is trying to crack down on complaining to referees, but the end result is that everyone's getting technical fouls for basically doing nothing. That happened again in last night's Celtics-Knicks preseason game, as Kevin Garnett received two really quick technicals for talking to a referee after his teammate, Jermaine O'Neal, received one.
