It’s Dark And Kevin Garnett’s Post-Finals Hell Is Hot

If I had to name the NBA player "most likely to bathe in a bath tub full of his opponent's blood" it would undoubtedly be Kevin Garnett. When we think of a basketball player spending hours in a dark room, staring at black-and-white photos of opponents and cursing under his breath, we think of Kevin Garnett. He's also lighting cigarettes in that scene, but not smoking them—just putting them out on his forearm, "to know what pain feels like."

Kevin Garnett is good, yeah, but moreso, he’s really, really insane. He’s the DMX of the NBA.

So when he lost the NBA Finals in heartbreaking fashion this past June, we all worried a little bit about his sanity. After the jump, KG talks about his mindset after losing to Game 7 in L.A.

From the Sports Radio Interviews transcript of a recent KG radio appearance:

Very dark, to be honest, dark. ‘Just leave me alone, let me be my myself. I don’t want to deal with anything right now. Let me just be in a dark place.’ Just the way I replay the game over and over in my mind, trying to get a resolution to some type of place to where you can settle with it. I never found it, but that’s what it is. I say it’s fuel to the fire. [Expletive? (Bleeped completely out)]

My favorite part is the end, and the expletive so profane and thoroughly bleeped, the guys Sports Radio Interviews couldn’t even guess. So we’re left to imagine what apocalyptic string of curse words KG came up with on his own. Just nasty.

Sort of like how post-Finals KG sounds. Remember: Kevin Garnett is a man who scares the crap out of opponents, fans, and even his own teammates. He once made Glen Davis, a 300-pound former football star, break into tears on the bench. Clearly, KG's got some darkness in him.

So, after that Finals loss... We can only imagine. Was it photos and cigarettes in a dark room? A bath tub full of blood and his own frustration? A journey to self-discovery that landed him on the battlefields of Afghanistan? I bet it was a mix between the bible’s Revelations, the first few scenes from the Book of Eli, and Belly.

Come to think of it, maybe he just went to Yonkers and hung out with DMX for a few weeks, explaining to friends and family, “Only D can understand where I’m at right now. [bark] [expletive].”

Whatever the answer, I’m glad nobody got hurt. As for his language...

I don’t promote cussing, but it helps. I look at it like it’s straight to the point. It’s nothing that I’m proud of. If I could stop, I would. But [expletive (completely bleeped out)]. This is me.

And that’s why KG is (completely bleeped out).
