The Heat missed their first seven shots of the second quarter, though they found their rhythm as the bench made their mark on the game. James Jones came off the bench to score nine points, with Udonis Haslem and Eddie House contributing as well. Wade leads the Heat with 13 points. The Heat were hitting outside shots with four three-pointers, and out-rebounded the Jazz 26-20.

Utah, without their shooters, had to rely on their inside game, but the Heat found ways to choke off the lane. Raja Bell was able to knock down the first three for the Jazz with less than a minute left in the half. Rookie Gordon Hayward committed a few fouls but was also able to add some points for the second unit.
CJ Miles, also off the bench for the Jazz, found his way to the basket for a few, but the Jazz were still down big as the half ended. It would appear that only Millsap showed up to play, and he lead the Jazz with 13 points. Deron Williams was virtually absent with just two points and two assists.
