Yao Ming Hoping To Return From Foot Injury On December 7

The status of Yao Ming’s chronically-injured feet is always a sensitive subject around Houston. After missing the entire 2009/10 season with a foot injury, Yao has been out of action since November 10 with a strained tendon in his left foot. The good news, though, is that he’s targeting a return shortly.

Yao spoke to reporters after Rockets practice today and said he is targeting a December 7 return to the court, according to Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle.

Yao went though shootaround. Practice tom. Planning Dec. 7 return vs. Detroit, T-Mac.

Feigen clarifies that Yao said the December 7 target date is simply “the latest” he’s heard, and his actual return will depend on how well he does in practice.

Without Yao, the Rockets have limped to a 5-12 record. They have really struggled on defense, surrendering an average of 110.1 points per 100 possessions this season, sixth-worst in the league.
