In front of a packed Madison Square Garden on Friday night, the Heat and Knicks are giving the fans their money’s worth. The two teams head into halftime with a 57-57 tie.
LeBron James has not received a warm welcome from Knicks faithful, many of whom felt jilted after James elected to relocate to Miami instead of New York. He’s responded, though, with some spectacular moments, highlighted by a pair of monster jams and a behind-the-back assist. In the first half, he put up 16 points, seven assists, and four rebounds. Chris Bosh also has 16 points, and Dwyane Wade has chipped in with 13.
The star for the Knicks so far tonight is Danilo Gallinari, who leads with 21 points. He’s sunk four of five three-point attempts, and put an exclamation point on his first half with an alley-oop dunk.
Entering the game, Amar’e Stoudamire had a chance to score 30 points and shoot 50 percent for the tenth consecutive game, coming within one of the NBA record. Though he’s made sizeable contributions to tonight’s dunk-fest, he’s scored only 10 points, and he’s only 5-of-13 from the field thus far.
