But the coldest greeting James received at Quicken Loans Arena came from former teammate Mo Williams. As Lebron extends an olive branch before the game, Williams keeps on walking, acting like LeBron doesn't even exist. Williams took LeBron’s public exit the hardest this summer, even telling reporters he contemplated retirement after “The Decision.” Ahead of LeBron’s return to Cleveland, Williams said he “had nothing to say” to his former friend and teammate. And it appears he didn’t have a thing to say before the game, leaving LeBron hanging, if you will.
Cavs guard Daniel “Boobie” Gibson, on the other hand, had no problem carrying on a nice, civilized chat with the former Cleveland mega-star. In the first quarter, while the game was still competitive, Gibson hit a three, then spent the rest of his leisurely jog back down the court barking at LeBron.
Trash-talking is always fun, but in this case, it’s the words unsaid that hit the hardest.
