Carmelo Anthony was excused from the Nuggets’ loss to the Spurs Wednesday night following the death of his sister.

Denver’s star forward is not expected back in action until after Christmas according to the team. Denver plays Oklahoma City on Christmas Day. The Nuggets host Philadelphia the following night and Portland two days later and then travel to Minnesota on the 29th.
Anthony’s absence from practice for two days prior to this was unrelated to his sister’s death. Anthony has been dealing with an elbow strain.
