Michael Jordan Trying To Trade For Andre Miller And Marcus Camby, According To Report

The Charlotte Bobcats have talked to the Portland Trail Blazers about a trade for veterans Andre Miller and Marcus Camby as team owner Michael Jordan attempts to shake up the franchise in the wake of Wednesday’s resignation of coach Larry Brown, according to FanHouse’s Sam Amick. In such a deal, which Amick reports Portland has cooled on, Gerald Wallace and D.J. Augustin would go back to the Blazers.

Earlier Thursday news broke that the Bobcats were considering trading for Clippers point guard Baron Davis. Amick reports that Jordan is unhappy with Augustin’s performance as the team’s starting point guard, a position the third-year player took when the Bobcats decided not to retain Raymond Felton.

The Blazers have had problems of their own, specifically between Miller and star wing Brandon Roy. Roy has been abnormally vocal in voicing his frustrations with being paired with a guard who requires having the ball in his hands so much. It’s unclear if Portland would be comfortable turning the point over to Augustin or current back-up Patty Mills. The Blazers have a large payroll and are looking to make a serious playoff run.

Amick also reports that Jordan would like to cut future payroll going forward. That’d be difficult in any deal acquiring Davis, but Miller’s 2011-12 salary ($7.8 million) can be eliminated if he is waived in the 2011 offseason. Camby is due $11 million next season, Wallace makes $10.5 million in each of the next two seasons.
