Noon starts are always difficult for NBA players, and we were reminded of that fact in the first quarter of this Christmas Day game between the Chicago Bulls and the New York Knicks. It’s been a sloppy first quarter, as the Knicks lead the Bulls 21-20.
Bulls Vs. Knicks, NBA Christmas Day: New York Leads 21-20 After Sloppy First Quarter
The two teams have combined for 15 turnovers already, with the Bulls posting nine and the Knicks having six. Many of the turnovers have just been sloppy. Everyone is pitching in, as ten different players have at least one turnover in the game. The end result is a choppy game that hasn’t quite lived up to expectations.
Derrick Rose leads all scorers with nine points, but has already taken 12 shots, hitting just three. The rest of the Bulls have taken just 12 shots combined, so Rose is dominating things without converting. He’s had his shot blocked twice, once by Amar’e Stoudemire and another time by Ronny Turiaf. Carlos Boozer added seven points on 3-5 shooting, so the rest of the team only scored four points combined.
Stoudemire leads the Knicks with six points, and four other players have gotten on the board.
