Ron Artest Raises $500K For Charity, Hungry For More (Charity, Rings)

Ron-artest-ring_medium

↵When the Lakers visited the White House a few weeks ago, Ron Artest was reluctant to go. Because he wanted to stay hungry, of course. So it’s no surprise that he was never too concerned with the sentimental value of his first title ring. He put it to good use, though.

↵He sold more than $500,000-worth of raffle tickets to give away his 2010 title ring. Even I bought $25 worth of raffle tickets—because really, what would be cooler than Ron Artest’s championship ring on your desk?

↵And now, a California man named Raymond Mikkael (...not me) will have the pleasure of enjoying said novelty. Even cooler? Artest raised a ton of money and awareness for mental health charities and the cause, in general. So what’s next? “I’m so anxious to get out at it again,” Artest said. “I get more fuel, I burn it all up.”

↵Ah, yes. Take notes, America. In a perfect world, we’d all be more like Ron Ron.
