VIDEO: Doc Rivers Questions Glen Davis’ Shot Selection In Crunch Time

The Boston Celtics, still missing Rajon Rondo and now without Kevin Garnett, hosted the New Orleans Hornets for a New Year's Eve matinee. The C's trailed by three with just over a minute left. Glen Davis -- a power forward with three career three-pointers -- took an ill-advised 24-footer with plenty of time on the shot clock.

Surprise! It missed. Davis' man, David West, scored on the other end to give New Orleans a five-point lead, and, via Tas Melas, Doc Rivers was pretty floored that Big Baby took a three. Read his lips:

Davis has always been considered a bit of a dunderhead; despite being a pretty effective scorer, he has a reputation as someone who would ... take shots he really should not be attempting at really crucial moments. That this happened in December, when it can be used as a teaching moment (if not first a strangling moment) and not June is a silver lining, I suppose.

The Celtics losts 83-81, ending 2010 with two straight losses after a pristine start to the season.
